Rolls Royce Silver Bullet – A New Dawn, A New Day…

It’s a new Dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new Silver Bullet, and it’s lookin’ good. This is the new Rolls Royce Dawn Silver Bullet. A re-imagining of the iconic Dawn model, which serves as part of the Collection Cars built by Rolls Royce. Exclusive, limited run models that serve to thrill, excite and remind the wider motoring world that when it comes to offering bespoke cars, Rolls Royce is still very much the ruler of the roost.

The Dawn in its natural guise is a formidable machine, thanks to a twin-turbo, 6,592cc V12 engine with some 563bhp. It’s also a four-seat convertible – the Silver Bullet is not. Instead, the new Silver Bullet, which is limited to a production run of just fifty, is in fact a two-seater. This is evidenced by the Aero Cowling with vapour-blasted titanium finisher that seamlessly blends into the long, flowing lines of the Dawn’s body.

The Rolls Royce Dawn Silver Bullet, to give it its full name, is more of an exercise in styling rather than an all-new machine. However, it’s one that seems to work. Given the Dawn is roughly the size of Swindon, one might imagine it would look out of proportion with only two seats. However, that’s not the case. As these new images from the shores of Lake Garda show, the designers have balanced out the 50% seating reduction beautifully.

Rolls Royce says, in true Rolls style, “Photographed on the shores of Lake Garda, a series of in-motion and drone shots capture Dawn Silver Bullet in locations including mountain hairpins and corniche roads. The new photographic portfolio also includes static images, taken in the open air, highlighting the car’s charismatic expression.

Under the Italian sun, Dawn Silver Bullet lives up to its name, travelling with speed and precision. Its ultra-metallic Brewster Silver Paint is a vibrant nod to the epic trials cars of the past, such as the Silver Dawn, Silver King, Silver Silence and Silver Spectre.”

That’s all very nice. And very ‘on brand’. In more real terms, however, the Silver Bullet is not a car to be dismissed. It may have a ‘if you need to ask, you can’t afford it’ price tag, and it may only be being built to the tune of fifty examples, but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that this car is a shining light in terms of what can be done. This is a fantasy vehicle, a car that has been built by passion and desire, not by box-ticking and the results of focus groups. It’s a reminder that, if you want bespoke, if you want world class and if you want a car that is truly like no other, there is no firm better suited to supply that car than Rolls Royce.
